Every summer I'd watch my calendar fill with lunches, weddings and late dinners, and I'd notice each one asking for a different bag. What I wanted to find was one bag that could cover them all and still feel like a treat whenever it came off the hook.

This is that bag. The body is an open weave shaped like a whelk shell, the handle is a braid, and a strap of pearl-style beads is packed alongside it. Its rose-gold-tone clasps clip it on when evening comes, so the bag goes from braid at lunchtime to pearls by night.

What I like most is how it looks: a weave that catches the light, a braid you can hold all afternoon, a shape that feels like something you came across rather than bought. It's handcrafted, so in a sense, it is.
